kleiner, zweihäusiger Strauch bis zu 50 cm mit gegenständig angeordneten, kleinen, aromatisch duftenden, tiefgrünen, am Rand gezähnten Blättern. Die kleinen Blüten erscheinen mit Tragblättern in Ähren oder in kätzchenartigen Blütenständen.
Diese wechselfeuchten Pflanzen sehen bei Trockenheit wie vertrocknet aus, doch sobald es ausreichend gegossen werden, ergrünen sie wieder.
