immergrüner Strauch oder dichtkroniger, kleiner Baum bis ca. 10 m mit langgestielten, bis zu 15 m langen, herzförmigen rot, grün, weiß marmorierten , Blättern. Die strahlend gelben Blüten mit 5 überlappenden Petalen und tiefrotem Schlund erscheinen in den Blattachseln und färben sich entsprechend der Tageszeit von gelb über orange nach rot
