mehrjährige, immergrüne, rhizombildende Staude bis zu 4 m mit langgestielten, tiefgrünen Blättern und aufrechten Blütenständen mit ca. 10-14 schmalen roten Brakteen, die die strahlend gelben Blüten umhüllen. Diese Art ist endemisch und kommt nur in Ecuador vor!

Fertilization:	monthly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer

Culture:	bright at around 20-25°C + keep constant slightly moist + high humidity
Overwintering:	Mature specimens at least 15-25°C, with high humidity and the substrate is constant only slightly moist. Lower temperatures by 5°C, are only briefly tolerated.
Note:	Remove withered leaves only when they are completely brown, because the plant can still use their nutrients.
