laubabwerfender kleiner bis mittelgroßer Baum von 10 - 15 m mit schwarz gefleckter grauer Rinde und gegenständig angeordneten, länglich ovalen, ledrigen, tiefgrünen Blättern mit auffällig heller Mittelrippe. Die stark duftenden, gelblich weißen Blüten, denen langgestielte rote Früchte folgen, erscheinen direkt am Holz (Kauliflori) - dicke Samen!
