immergrüner, buschiger Strauch oder kleiner bis mittelgroßer Baum bis zu 15 m (in Kübelkultur bis zu 3 m) mit rundlicher Krone und wechselständig angeordneten Blättern, bestehend aus bis zu 12 paarig angeordneten, bis zu 20 cm langen, schmal elliptischen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits samtig behaarten Blättchen und einem endständigen Blatt. Die zart duftenden, rosa-pink- bis purpurfarbenen Blüten erscheinen in Trauben am Ende der Triebe

Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 5-10°C and only so much water that the root ball not dries out completely.
