immergrüner, zweihäusiger Baum bis ca. 25 m mit ausladender Krone und dünner, grauer, dunkelgrüner oder brauner Rinde, wechselständig angeordneten, gestielten, ledrigen, bis zu 13 cm lagen und 5 cm breiten, elliptischen oder ovalen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern. Die kleinen Blüten erscheinen an getrennt wachsenden Bäumen. Die Samen sind eßbar und liefern ein gutes Speiseöl
