immergrüne, zweihäusige, strauchige Konifere oder kleiner Baum bis zu 15 m mit rotem, grauen oder graubrauner Borke und leicht überhängenden Zweigen mit weichen, ledrigen, bis zu 7 cm langen und 4 mm breiten, lanzettlichen Nadeln. Die männlichen, kugelig geformten, rosa-braunen Blütenzapfen erscheinen in Gruppen von 6-7 Zapfen, die weiblichen, gräulich getönten Zapfen erscheinen einzeln oder in Gruppen von bis zu 8.
Verwendung: Die Äste, Wurzeln und Samen enthalten eine Vielzahl an Alkaloiden die zur Bekämpfung von Leukämie und Lymphomen eingesetzt werden. Das Holz zur Herstellung von Möbeln
