immergrüner Strauch bis zu 8 m mit kletternden Zweigen und wechselständig angeordneten, ca. 10 cm langen und 3,5 cm breiten, ovalen,  oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern mit auffälliger Nervatur. Die gestielten, grünlich-gelben Blüten, bestehend aus 6 länglich-schmalen Petalen erscheinen einzeln oder in kleinen Gruppen am Ende der Triebe, denen eßbare, ovale oder elliptische, leuchtend rote Früchte in Büscheln folgen
