immergrüner, hoher Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 7 m (in Kübelkultur bis zu 2 m) mit gegenständig angeordneten, dick ledrigen, bis zu 9 cm langen und 6,5 cm breiten, ovalen bis elliptischen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits mattgrünen Blättern und rosafarbenem Neuaustrieb. Die duftenden, weißen Blüten mit zahlreichen, weit herausragenden weißen Staubfäden und cremefarbenem Staubbeuteln erscheinen einzeln oder in den Blattachseln an bis zu 25 cm langen Stielen. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich eßbare, bei Reife bis zu 5 cm große, kugelige, abgeflachte oder eiförmige, leuchtend orangefarbene oder rote Beerenfrüchte

Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 5-15°C, and according to ambient temperature keep slightly moist. Occasionally sprinkle with warmed water in indoor culture.
Note: Indoor culture with accordingly high humidity is possible!
