schnellwüchsiger, mehrjähriger oder auch einjähriger, krautiger, einhäusiger Ranker bis zu 20 m mit ca. 30 cm breiten und 12 cm langen, an der Basis tief eingeschnittenen, 3- bis 7gelappten, tief eingeschnittenen, zart grauhaarigen Blättern mit gezahnten Blatträndern. Die weißen oder gelben, urnenförmigen, 5-petaligen Blüten (weibliche ca. 5 cm lang, männliche ca. 2 cm) erscheinen einzeln in Blattachseln und verströmen einen intensiven, melonenähnlichen Duft, gefolgt von duftenden, bis 60 cm langen, glänzenden, zylindrischen oder ellipsenförmigen, schokoladenbraunen Früchten

Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: potting soil + sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 20-25°C + keep constantly moist
Overwintering: overwintering is omitted as one-year culture. Perenniel specimens (short day plants) bright at least 15°C and only so much to water that the root ball not dries out completely.
Note: Cut down after harvest! For the maturity Sicana needs warm temperatures and should stay in cool summers in a greenhouse.
