immergrüner, hoher Strauch oder Baum mit dichter, ausladender Krone und spiralig angeordneten, großen, ledrigen, länglich lanzettlichen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern, heller Mittelrippe und gewellten Blatträndern, die meist gehäuft am Ende der Zweige erscheinen. Die weißen Blüten erscheinen direkt am Stamm (Kauliflorie), aus denen sich dichtgedrängt, kleine, kugelförmige, bei Reife strahlend rote Früchte entwickeln
