laubabwerfender, schnellwüchsiger, hoher, mehrstämmiger, dichtbelaubter Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 11 m mit gegenständig angeordneten Blättern, bestehend aus 3-gelappten, bis zu 10 cm langen und 5 cm breiten, ovalen bis verkehrt eiförmigen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren, zart behaarten, am Rand fein gesägten Blättern mit langgezoger Spitze. Die ca. 1 cm langen, glockenförmigen, weißen, 5-petaligen Blüten mit gelb-orangefarbenen Staubbeuteln erscheinen in hängenden, kleinen Büscheln in den Blattachseln oder am Ende der Triebe, gefolgt von blasenähnlichen, tränenförmigen Früchten mit eßbaren Samen.
Verwendung: Die Samen werden wie Pistazien verzehrt. Das aus den Samen gewonnene, süße Speiseöl wird in der Küche zum Kochen verwendet.

Stratification: ca. 3 months in moist substrate at approx. 20-30°C, then 3 months at 0-5°C in the fridge or unheated greenhouse, then at 25°C again
Sowing Time: all year round > spring preferred
Sowing Deep: cover only slightly with substrate
Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Germination Temperature: ca. 25°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 18+ months
Irrigation: in the growing season regularly water
Fertilization: biweekly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: slightly acid substrat + sand or perlite
Culture: in the 1st year bright or dark at approx. 0-5ºC in unheated greennhouse + keep slightly moist only
Overwintering: After this time period older specimens can be planted in a sunny position outdoors.
Note: These seeds should be sown as early as possible in the year!
