laubabwerfender, zweihäusiger, mehrstämmiger Strauch oder kleiner, rundkroniger Baum bis zu 10 m mit zart behaarten Zweigen und bis zu 3,5 cm langen und 0,5 cm breiten, lanzettlichen, oberseits grau-grünen, samtig behaarten, unterseits filzig behaarten Blättern, die spiralförmig angeordnet am Ende der Zweige erscheinen. Die süßlich duftenden, hängenden, laternenförmigen, roten. kirschrot-pink oder creme-weißen Büten erscheinen in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich essbare, ca, 1,5 cm ø, bei Reife samtige, dunkelrote bis schwarze Früchte. Schmetterlingspflanze!

Overwintering: After this time period, older specimens due to the cold tolerance can be planted in mild regions in a sheltered, sunny position outdoors. In unfavorable positions, winter protection is recommended.
