immergrüner, in der Trockenzeit laubabwerfender, kleiner, buschiger Baum bis zu 8 m (am Naturstandort bis zu 25 m) mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 20 cm langen, elliptischen, ledrigen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern. Die bis zu 90 leuchtend roten, pinselförmigen, ca. 2,5 cm großen Blüten mit weit herausragenden roten Staubfäden erscheinen an ca. 60 cm langen hängenden Trauben, gefolgt von großen, grünen, bei Reife braunen, 4-kantigen Früchten

Sowing Instruction
Propagation: Seeds/Cuttings
Pre-Treatment: remove the fibers + soak ca. 24-48 h in lukewarm water
Sowing Time: all year round > only fresh seeds germinate reliably
Sowing Deep: ca. 1-2 cm or 1/2 into substrate + 1/2 uncovered
Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Alternative: in a zip bag with damp coir > until germination takes place
Germination Temperature: ca. 25-30°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 1-3 months
Irrigation: in the growing season richly water
Fertilization: monthly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: humus soil + 1/3 clay + 1/3 sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 20-25°C + keep constant moist + high humidity
Overwintering: Older specimens at about 15-23ºC with high humidity and only so much water, that a slight bale moisture is maintained. Never completely dry out.
Note: Due to the natural site, in freshwater and coastal regions with a low salt concentration, even for short periods will tolerate waterlogging
