schnellwüchsiger, immergrüner, dichtkroniger, in der Größe sehr variabler Baum von 5 bis zu 30 m mit hell bis dunkelgrauer, fein geschuppter Rinde, biegsamen Zweigen und gegenständig angeordneten, langgestielten, bis zu 7 cm langen und 3,7 cm breiten, ovalen bis länglich ovalen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern. Die kleinen, süßlich duftenden, cremefarbenen, oftmals pink getönten Blüten erscheinen sowohl in kurzen, lockeren Büscheln in den Blattachseln, als auch am alten Holz. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich ovale, fleischige bis zu 3 cm lange, bei Reife leicht violett-schwarze Früchte

Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 10-15°C, and according to ambient temperature just so much to water that the root ball not dries out completely.
