Synonyme: Echinopanax horridus, Fatsia horrida, Panax horridus

mehrjährige, oftmals auch nur einjährig gezogene, rhizombildende, laubabwerfende, stachelige Pflanze bis zu 3 m mit meist nur einem oder auch mehreren aufrechten Stengeln, wechselständig aneordneten, langgestielten, bis zu 40 cm großen, handförmig gelappten, tiefgrünen Blättern mit gesägten Blatträndern, die gehäuft am Ende der Triebe erscheinen. Die grünlich-weißen Blüten erscheinen in bis zu 15 cm hohen aufrechten Rispen, gefolgt von leuchtend roten, nicht genießbaren Früchten in endständigen Trauben

Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Germination Temperature: ca. 20°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: until germination takes place > irregular + difficult
Irrigation: in the growing season richly water
Fertilization: monthly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: potting soil + sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 10-15°C + keep constantly moist
Overwintering: Older specimens bright or dark at approx. 5°C, and just so much to water that the root ball not dries out completely.
