mehrjährige, immergrüne, rhizombildende, Staude bis zu 4 m mit einem tiefschwarzen Pseudostamm und fast aufrechten, bis zu 2,4 m langen und bis zu 50 cm breiten, elliptischen, oberseits hellgrünen, unterseits flaumig behaarten Blättern an bis zu 70 cm langen Blattstielen und einem 50 cm langen Blütenstand. Die weiblichen Blüten erscheinen mit bis zu 10 weißen, grünlich gelappten Blüten in 2 Reihen, männliche, weiße oder cremefarbene Blüten in bis zu 12 in 2 Reihen per Braktee, umgeben von glänzend grünlich-braunen oder purpur-braunen Hüllblättern mit grünlichen Spitzen, gefolgt von einem 2-reihigen Fruchstand mit bis zu 9 cm langen und 3 cm dicken, grünen, bei Reife gelben, wenig Fruchtfleisch enthaltenen Früchten und gelbraunem, aber ungenießbarem Fruchtfleisch.
Verwendung: Musa textilis wird als Faserpflanze genutzt, wobei die Ernte während der Blüte erfolgt!
