immergrüner, oftmals mehrstämmiger, kleiner Strauch bis ca. 3 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, ca. 10 cm langen dicken, steif lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen Blättern. Die strahlend gelben Blüten mit weinrot oder maroonfarbenen Zeichnungen erscheinen in Trauben mit bis zu 10 Einzelblüten in den Blattachseln
