immergrünkleine Staude bis ca. 50 cm mit meist nur 3 langgestielten Blättern, bestehend aus je 5 strahlenförmig angeordneten, mittel- bis tiefgrünen Fiederblättern mit gezähnten Blatträndern. Die kleinen, grünlich-weissen Blüten erscheinen in einer einzigen Dolde aus der Blattbasis, gefolgt von leuchtend roten Beeren, die sich im Herbst entwickeln
