schnellwüchsiger, immergrüner, mittelgroßer, ausladender Baum bis zu 20 m mit Brettwurzeln, braun-gräulicher Rinde und langgestielten, wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 39 cm langen und ca. 13 cm breiten, lanzettlichen, ledrigen, tiefgrünen Blättern mit auffällig heller Mittelrippe und rötlichem Neuaustrieb. Die kurzgestielten, duftenden, ca. 1 cm langen, gelblichen-weißen, 5-petaligen Blüten hängen in lockeren Büscheln in den Blattachseln, denen große, ovale- bis nierenförmig, ca. 4 cm lange und bis zu 3 cm breite, bei Reife orange-braune Früchte folgen, die je einen eßbaren Samen enthalten.
Die Samen sind sehr groß und schwer, wobei das Gewicht eines Samens bis zu 50 g beträgt und sollten nur gekocht verzehrt werden!

Propagation: Seeds/Cuttings
Pre-Treatment: 0
Stratification: Coir or substrate should be sterilize prior to sowing for 30-45 minutes at 100ºC!
Sowing Time: all year round > only fresh seeds germinate reliably
Sowing Deep: ca. 3-5 cm
Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Alternative: in a zip bag wrapped with damp newsprint
Germination Temperature: ca. 28-30°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 2-6 weeks > depending on the maturity of the seeds
Irrigation: in the growing season richly water. Due to the natural site, in the swampy areas, will also tolerated waterlogging over a longer period of time
Fertilization: biweekly 0,1%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: potting soil + clay + sand or perlite. The pH-value may be between 5-14
Culture: hell bei ca. 25°C + konstant feucht/nass halten + hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit
Overwintering: Mature species bright at least 20-25 ° C and keep constantly humid to wet.
Note: tolerates salty, shallow and infertile soils and any type of substrate, whatever their composition. Condition is waterlogging, as the dry season is not longer than 1 month.
