Synonyme: Psophocarpus longepedunculatus, Dolichos tetragonolobus, Botor tetragonolobus

schnellwüchsiger, mehrjähriger, jedoch oftmals einjährig gezogener, knollenbildender, buschiger, linkswindender Ranker mit 3-blättrigen Blättern, bestehend aus bis zu 14 cm langen und 9 cm breiten, breit lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen Blättchen. Die bis zu 10 cm langgestielten Blütenstände bestehen aus bis zu 5 cm großen, blauen Blüten mit gelb-rosa oder violettfarbener Krone, einer bis zu 2,5 cm breiten Fahne und erscheinen in bis zu 10 Einzelblüten in lockeren Büscheln in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von bis zu 20 cm langen, kantigen Hülsen mit gewellten Flügeln.
Verwendung: Alle Pflanzenteile sind eßbar, sowohl Blätter, Blüten, junge Früchte, Samen, als auch die unterirdischen Knollen

Pre-Treatment: pour hot water over the seeds + soak ca. 24 h
Sowing Time: all year round

Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Germination Temperature: ca. 22-25°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 3-6 weeks
Irrigation: in the growing season richly water
Fertilization: weekly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: potting soil + sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 10-15°C + keep constantly moist
Overwintering: not for one-year culture. Several years of culture bright for about 10-15°C and water only sporadically in small amounts and larger intervals. They come not into flower when the daylight is longer than 12 hours!
Note: They need at least 180 frost-free days from sowing to harvesting the ripe pods. Flowers and immature pods can be harvested in less than 60 days.
