immergrüner Strauch oder ausladender Baum bis ca. 5 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 10 cm langen und 6 cm breiten, länglich ovalen bis elliptischen glänzend, tiefgrünen Blättern mit gesägten Blatträndern. Die bis zu 5 cm großen, sternförmigen, strahlend gelben Blüten erscheinen einzeln oder in kleinen Gruppen in den Blattachseln, denen eßbare, ca. 2 cm ø große, bei Reife gelblich-braune bis rötliche Früchte folgen
