Baumfarn bis zu 12 m mit dickem, schwärzlichem Stamm und einer Krone aus bis zu 3 m langen Wedeln, bestehend aus gefiederten, gelblichen bis tiefgrünen Blättern, die an der Basis mit kleinen, dunkelbraunen Schuppen besetzt sind
