ein- oder auch mehrjähriger, kleiner, krautiger Strauch bis ca. 1,5 m mit handförmigen, gezackten, hellgrünen Blättern, in feuchter Umgebung grün und glatt, in trockener Umgebung grau und dichtbehaart. Die pinkfarbenen Blüten mit dunkel gestreiften Petalen erscheinen in den Blattachseln oder am Ende der Triebe. Varianten gibt es in weiß - lila - pink, malven- oder magentafarben
