immergrüner Baum bis zu 15 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, gestielten, bis zu 12 cm langen und 5 cm breiten, ovalen bis breit lanzettlichen, matten, oberseits olivgrünen, unterseits gräulich grünen Blättern. Die bis zu 8 cm großen, pink- bis rosafarbenen, wachsartigen, glänzenden, 5-petaligen, hibiskusähnlichen Blüten erscheinen einzeln in den Blattachseln
