laubabwerfender Strauch oder Baum bis zu 20 m (in Kübelkultur bis zu 3 m) mit knorrigem Stamm und Zweigen (im Jugendstadium dornig), wechselständig angeordneten, langgestielten, 3-zähligen, bis zu 15 cm langen, grün-gelb panaschierten Blättern. Die bis zu 4 cm langen, leuchtend scharlachroten bis orangefarbenen Blüten erscheinen in bis zu 15 cm langen, hängenden, dichten Büscheln an bis zu 10 cm langen Stielen am Ende der Triebe während der laublosen Zeit

Overwintering: Older specimens bright or dark at approx. 10-15°C, and according to ambient temperature to water only in larger intervals and in small amounts that the root ball not dries out completely. At temperatures at approx. 5-10ºC keep dry absolutely.
