immergrüner, ausladender Strauch bis zu 3 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, bis zu 13 cm langen und 5 cm breiten, ovalen bis lanzettlichen, ledrigen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern. Die kleinen, ca. 5 cm langen, tiefroten Blüten mit purpurfarbenen Staubblättern erscheinen in achselständigen Büscheln. Die Blüten besitzen keine Blütenblätter!

Sowing Deep: ca. 1 cm
Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Germination Temperature: ca. 15-20°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: until germination takes place
Irrigation: in the growing season regularly water
Fertilization: monthly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: potting soil + sand or perlite
Culture: im 1.-3. Jahr hell bei ca. 5-10ºC + konstant feucht halten
Overwintering: Ältere Exemplare können in milden Regionen an einem geschützten Standort ins Freiland gepflanzt werden.
Note: Der Neuaustrieb sollte in den ersten Jahren vor Spätfrösten geschützt werden!
