immergrüner, schnellwüchsiger Baum bis zu 12 m (am Naturstandort bis zu 20 m) mit gegenständig angeordneten, kurzgestielten, bis zu 35 cm langen und 18 cm breit ovalen, oberseits glänzend hellgrünen Blättern mit auffällig heller Mittelrippe, die gehäuft am Ende der Zweige erscheinen. Die strahlend goldgelben, 5-petaligen Blüten mit herausragenden Staubfäden und grünlich-gelben Kelch erscheinen in kurzgestielen, aufrechten, dichten Büscheln am Ende der Triebe
