langsamwüchsiger, hoher Baumfarn bis zu 10 m mit schlankem, schwärzlichem Stamm und einer Krone aus bis zu 4 m langen und 1 m breiten Wedeln, bestehend aus gefiederten, oberseits sattgrünen, unterseits silbrig-weißen Blättern, die an der Basis mit strohfarbenen oder hellbraunen Schuppen besetzt sind
