immergrüne, schlanke, mehrjährige, wenig verzweigte Kletterpflanze bis zu 1,2 m mit mehr oder weniger holzigen Stengeln und wechselständig angeordneten, gestielten, zarten schmetterlingsähnlichen, grünen, rötlich gestreiften Blättern, bestehend aus gewöhnlich gleichseitigen bis zu 2 cm großen Blättchen und einem enständigen, rhombischen, bis zu 9 cm großen Blatt. Die zart lavendelfarbenen-rosa Blüten erscheinen in langen Rispen in den Blattachseln
