aufrechter, schlanker Strauch oder seltener, kleiner Baum bis zu 10 m mit weiß-rötlich-brauner Rinde, wechselständig angeordneten, doppelt gefiederten, tiefgrünen Blättern und endständigen, pinselförmigen Blüten. Die tief eingeschnittenen, purpurroten Kelchblätter der einzelnen Blüten werden überragt von unzähligen, langen, roten oder auch pinkfarbenen, an der Basis weißen Staubfäden
