immergrüne, verholzende Kletterpflanze (Liane) bis zu 30 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, ovalen, spitzzulaufenden, tiefgrünen Blättern. Die hellgelben, duftenden Blüten mit 3 Kelchblättern (Sepalen) und 6 Blütenblättern (Petalen) sitzen zu 2-4 Blüten in Büscheln in den Blattachseln oder am Ende der Zweige, gefolgt von eßbaren rundlich bis zylindrischen, ca. 2,5 cm langen roten Beerenfrüchten mit süßem Fruchtfleisch (Pulpe)
