immergrüner oder halb-immergrüner, verholzender Schlinger bis zu 10 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, langgestielten Blättern, bestehend aus 5 geteilten, handförmig zusammengesetzten, eiförmigen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits bläulich-grünen Blättchen. Die leicht nach Schokolade duftenden, strahlend creme-weißen Blüten mit violetten Staubblättern erscheinen in Trauben in den Blattachseln, denen eßbare, zart rosa gefärbte Früchte mit süßem Geschmack folgen
Früchte können nur gebildet werden, wenn zwei verschiedene Arten oder Sorten nebeneinander gepflanzt werden!
