Synonyme: Akebia lobata

immergrüner oder halb-immergrüner, verholzender Schlinger bis zu 10 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, langgestielten Blättern, bestehend aus 5 geteilten, handförmig zusammengesetzten, eiförmigen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits bläulich-grünen Blättchen. Die zart nach Vanille duftenden, purpur-violetten Blüten erscheinen in Trauben in den Blattachseln, denen eßbare Früchte mit süßem Geschmack folgen
Früchte können nur gebildet werden, wenn zwei verschiedene Arten oder Sorten nebeneinander gepflanzt werden!

Culture: in the 1st year bright or dark at approx. 0-5ºC in unheated greennhouse + keep slightly moist only
Overwintering: After this time period older specimens can be planted outdoors.
